Fam Jam Ski Trip in Loveland

Getting Back to the Roots

Most years, a ski trip surfaces somewhere around March. Last year was a rare dry spell, so it was good to get back in it and test myself out on the mountains again. Spring skiing in Loveland did not disappoint – we had everyone locked in, bluebird conditions on multiple days, and a banger storm a few days leading up to the trip to provide a solid base. Cannot ask for much more!

If memory serves me correctly, there were some ballin’ deals at Loveland for a 3-day pass this time around to help offset the outlandish prices to ski as of late. Madness, but honestly this trip probably would not of happen if those passes didn’t pop up. Either way, thanks to my father who is always scouting for the deals. Plus our condo was the best one yet in Lake Dillon – heated floors all around!

Doing Big Things

This post will definitely be shorter, since I’ve been very bad about writing this as the memories were fresh (it’s now August…), therefore I figured I would make a nice little list of things that I remembered and enjoyed about this vacation.

  • Getting ICE’d by my family with a 24oz was hilarious, and I cannot believe I didn’t see it coming. They offered me “food” in the car and handed me a brown bag. Good thing I was hungry!
  • The 4-story condo we rented was amazing! Heated floors and Austin Powers movie nights.
  • The Snow gods were on our side once again
  • Stoked to be able to jib both rails and tubes after years of absence. The upgrade from boxes was a great feeling.
  • Switch skiing was like riding a bike
  • Watching my dad drop in from the summit was a roller coaster.
  • We made it out with only my mother receiving a thumb injury (did require surgery!)
  • It’s been years since carving out a line on fresh powder, and it remains one of the most unique experiences you can have

A Classic Ski Trip

This year’s trip to Loveland was overall a good combination of all the things that make up a memorable ski trip. Even with writing a post much later, there were so many moments that quickly started flooding my mind as soon as I began typing. Taking a year off from skiing every now and then will happen, but the mountains will always be calling. I’ll continue to count my blessing to be able to ski with my parents and family and shred for as long as I can!
